It has only been since the 1980s that advances in production technology have resulted in the availability of good quality decaffeinated tea. The less common, more expensive carbon dioxide (CO2) method of decaffeination involves putting the tea leaves into water and adding liquid carbon dioxide. When the water and carbon dioxide are drained off, the caffeine washes off too-leaving a decaffeinated leaf. Taylors chose the CO2 process for decaffeination and selected a blend of African teas that proved successful in maintaining their flavor. The resulting tea, available in tagged tea bags, English style tea bags and loose tea, is the first decaffeinated tea deemed good enough to carry the Taylors name.
Taylors decaffeinated tea is a blend of East African teas decaffeinated using the chemical-free C02 process. A light, sweet-flavored tea, it can be enjoyed any time of the day. Excellent served with lemon.
